Nature Unplugged

Designing digital experience to inspire real world behavior.

Project Overview:

Timeline: 8 weeks

Team: 7

Role: UX Designer, Communication Lead, Project Lead

Client: Nature Unplugged

Nature Unplugged is a non-profit organization focused on helping individuals get connected with nature in order to improve mental health. Our team was tasked with creating a 12-week asynchronous digital program that educates users on the benefits of nature and taking a proactive approach to avoid mental health issues. Understanding the opportunity we had, we were able to take creative liberty with the design choices at hand. With this background, we focused on optimizing user experience through concise and innovative design.

The ChallEnge

With Nature Unplugged being a non-profit organization, there were plenty of real-world constraints we needed to work under. Things such as having a very limited budget, which demanded the use of low-cost, sustainable tools, a shortened timeline of eight weeks, and many other issues we faced throughout the project. After our initial meeting with Nature Unplugged’s stakeholders, it became clear that there would be difficulties finding individuals who would be actual users of the product we were hoping to make. As a result, we had to adjust accordingly and do our best to create something that met the needs of the stakeholders involved.

problem statement:

Most online courses deliver information, but fail to create a real-world connection. Educators, wellness coaches, and learners need a digital experience that feels engaging, flexible, and grounded in nature to support meaningful, preventative mental wellness in ways that align with Nature Unplugged’s background.
